AT&T Update #2

I completely forgot to tell you guys.  I didn’t get a single phone call last week from AT&T.  The previous Friday I spoke with Nancy and voiced concerns about the hard inquiry on my credit report, and she assured me it would be taken care of.  Never heard back.  Also, despite receiving letters notifying me that I wouldn’t be held responsible for the delinquent accounts (no duh, fuckheads), I still don’t see those documents I’m entitled to under the FCRA!  I faxed a written request AND a copy of the statute smack in the center of the information they requested to “investigate” the accounts.  Since they got the information pertaining to the accounts, they damn sure got the request for the documents I’m allowed to access under the FCRA.

You can bet your ass they’ll be getting a phone call from me tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that until they give me some answers and the shit I’m asking for.

Watch this space for updates as they become available!

Use the categories menu to the right to view all AT&T posts – it’s all under the “AT&T” category!

My Brain Is Stupid

For the past several months my brain does this thing where I wake up just enough to snooze my alarm or turn it off entirely, but not quite enough to allow me to roll out of bed.  Instead, it decides that it wants more sleep.  My brain is smart enough to know that it can’t just go back to sleep because I have commitments requiring me to get my ass out of bed.  So, what does it do?  It fucking lies to me like the bastard it is.

AT&T Executive Customer Service

I was contacted by a nice lady named Nancy today in response to the email I sent to the CEO.  She seemed helpful, but I still don’t trust AT&T farther than I could throw the CEO.  He looks a bit larger than me, so that’s probably not very far.

She assured me that AT&T would help clean up the consequences of the ID theft, like removing the account from collections, alerting the credit reporting agencies that it should be removed from my report, etc.  I, in turn, assured her that I knew that AT&T was doing that, and that it was good; however, that was not the issue I needed them to address.

AT&T Update

My twitter post @ATT got the attention of a rep who said she will contact me before 1pm today.  I’m hoping against hope that this time someone will listen to me and just give me the stuff I’ve requested.  I’m mad and willing to raise hell about it, but of course I’d rather they just give me what I am entitled to by law and call it a day.  I’ll just twiddle my thumbs or play Bloons TD until my phone rings!

More info after the break! Continue reading

AT&T Helps Identity Thieves

You may recall a brief mention of my recent discovery of identity theft.  Well, now I’m super fucking pissed.  I submitted my story to the Consumerist and am awaiting a response; I am hopeful that my story will be posted and that AT&T will be forced to respond once my story is reaching more people.  Here’s a long-winded breakdown of what’s happened.  TL;DR at the bottom.

In January I received a call from a collection agency attempting to collect on “my” debt of nearly $600 to AT&T.  I have never had an AT&T account, but am an authorized user on my husband’s account.  I explained to the debt collector that it must be a mistake, but she recited my personal information – including my Social Security Number – and I realized I had a problem.

A Very Jelly Weekend

I’ve learned a lesson, readers.  I’m going to share this lesson with you because all weekend it’s been a pain in my ass.

I bought some coconut oil conditioner last week, thinking it would be nice to use.  I haven’t tried the “real” coconut oil in my hair, but have wanted to.  Problem is, I use coconut oil to cook with, and didn’t want to mix bath and kitchen purposes with the same container.  I thought I had solved my problem by getting the coconut oil conditioner.  Oh, how very wrong I was.

Graduate School

We are currently away from home visiting the grad school that’s already sent an acceptance letter to my husband.  His current profs were commenting on how absurdly quick they responded to him – three days after the applications were due, if you didn’t remember.  His mentor suggested that it meant my hubby is their top pick.

Hubby met with the graduate advisor today and after a pleasant 2-hour conversation the advisor said something that brought tears to our eyes.  He said my husband is the ONLY person they have admitted thus far for the physics graduate program.  He patted a large stack of papers and explained that the committee was still going through them all and wouldn’t send out more letters for at least a couple of weeks.
